LEGACY
Without Them..., There is No Me!
When I look back over the course of my life nothing gives me more joy and fulfillment than these smiling faces. Oh! And the one non-smiling face. (In case you can't find Waldo, I'm talking about the "adult" 2-year-old sitting on my lap that refused to cooperate for this picture.) To put it simply (or not so simply depending on who's reading this), my family is the magic to my inner unicorn, the cape attached to my inner SheWRO (She Will Rise & Overcome), the intelligence in my failures, the support that drives my success, the air that I breathe...the...well, you get the point.
I strive daily to live my life in a way that provides a living example to them that they can achieve their dreams without compromising who they are or what they stand for. Now don't let my words or this lovely picture fool you. We are not perfect by any means. Like every family out there, we are human with a little bit of dysfunction on the side. As you can clearly see, Layla is giving that secret away! We laugh, we cry, fuss & fight, we make mistakes that disappoint and hurt. Yep...sometimes we don't like each other, but we love unconditionally, forgive quickly, give hugs and kisses daily, and say I love you (and mean it) often. As a wife and mother, I don't always get it right and I struggle with work-life harmony at times. Nonetheless, when I think about the legacy that I hope to leave behind, they are at the root of it all.
